All Flights Cancelled in Florida as Hurricane Michael Takes Hold

Airlines have cancelled hundreds of flights, after Hurricane Michael hit the Florida coast.

Northwest Florida Beaches Airport, Tallahassee International Airport, Destin Fort Walton Beach Airport and Pensacola International Airport have all been closed and many airlines have shut down travel across the Florida Panhandle.

While the storm has recently been downgraded from a hurricane, strong winds are prevailing, meaning that air travel is unsafe in the region at this time.

Delta and American Airlines have made statements to press, apologising for any inconvenience but highlighting the important of passenger safety. Those who have been affected have been offered the option to rebook or apply for refunds.

United, Delta and American have also confirmed that they will scrap date-change and cancellation fees for a number airports affected in the storm area.
