The Latest On Ryanair Christmas Strike

If you are flying with Ryanair over this Christmas period, you will be delighted to hear that pilots have called off their planned strike.

The Irish Pilots Union, IMPACT, had called for one day of industrial action before December 25th, however this has now been cancelled.

The move came after Ryanair management agreed to recognise unions for the first time. Unions in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany called off their planned strikes earlier in the week.

IMPACT will be meeting with Ryanair in the New Year to iron out the details of how Unions will be recognised and included in future pay negotiations and more.

“The union acknowledged the principled determination of Ryanair pilots, which it said had made this breakthrough possible, and said it looked forward to establishing a positive relationship with Ryanair company management,” said IMPACT in a statement.

edel Doherty“IMPACT added that it hoped the suspension of industrial action would remove any uncertainty for passengers.”

Edel Doherty, Managing Director Beyond Business Travel said: “This news couldn’t have come at a better time for passengers. To face disruption at Christmas is always more stressful and upsetting. We are delighted that all involved have managed to find a solution, before travellers were adversely affected.”

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation and advise clients should any further issues occur.
