United Airlines has become the first US airline to partner with Amazon, adding features to their popular Alexa products.
What Are Amazon Alexa, Echo & Echo Dot?
Amazon Echo and Echo Dots are Alexa enabled hands free speakers. But they are so much more than that. Using voice commands, users can browse the internet, order products from Amazon, listen to their favourite music or radio station, ask for the news, get weather reports and calendar reminders. Now owners can also check-in to their flights.
Check-in For Flights & More
After joining forces with the international retail giant, United Airlines have now made it possible for their customers not just to check-in using Alexa, but also ask a variety of questions about their flight. Find out about delays, gate closing time, baggage allowance and more, all just by asking.
United Airlines Innovation
This latest announcement is one in a long line of technology based advancements from United in recent years. In March they announced the rollout of a sleek new screening experience and they are now looking to Big Data, to help overcome those pesky overbooking issues that caused so much trouble earlier this year.
“Every day we connect nearly 400,000 customers to business meetings, loved ones and new adventures,” said Praveen Sharma, vice president of digital products and analytics at United. “Introducing the new skill to check in and receive flight information with Alexa is an innovation that gives our customers extra time to prep for a business meeting, play with their children or relax as they get ready for their upcoming flight.”
