The UK’s trade engines might not be where you think they are…

If your business operates outside London, you already know how much connectivity matters.

It shapes how your people travel.
How goods move.
And how quickly you can respond to opportunity.

That’s why our CEO, Steve Banks spent the morning at East Midlands Airport, joining travel and regional business leaders to hear more about plans to grow passenger routes and cargo capability.

There were plenty of useful insights shared today.
Rather than listing them all, it’s worth focusing on what they reveal.

More than half of all exports moving through the airport come from Midlands businesses. That alone tells a powerful story about where UK trade really happens.

With 85% of the UK reachable within four hours by road, East Midlands Airport plays a quiet but critical role in keeping supply chains, business travel, and time sensitive decisions moving.

It’s also outgrowing Heathrow in key areas and remains the UK’s number one express air freight hub, with seven new cargo airlines added in the past year.

This isn’t just an aviation story.

It’s about productivity.
Resilience.
And making sure regional businesses have the connectivity they need to compete and grow.

For Beyond Business Travel, this is close to home.
Our UK mainland office is in Derby, and we see every day how vital strong regional links are for the organisations we support.

When travel infrastructure works well, it doesn’t shout.
It just works.

What one improvement in regional connectivity would make the biggest difference for your organisation?
