Air Traffic Controller & Alitalia Strike in Italy, 28th May 2017

Air traffic controllers and some Alitalia staff across Italy are threatening to strike at many airports on Sunday 28th May 2017.

This industrial action is likely to bring significant disruption to airlines and travellers in the region, at what is a very busy time of year.

Strike action is planned from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (1100 to 1500 GMT) while several unions representing Alitalia employees plan a work stoppage from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (0800 to 1600 GMT).

British Airways have confirmed that they will be employing larger aircraft, where possible on other services, to help affected customers and will aim to reduce the levels of disruption where possible.

Alitalia has already cancelled a number of flights and is offering rebooking and refund options to customers.

We are awaiting more information from the authorities in Italy before revising traveller bookings.

Beyond Business Travel will identify any affected travellers and liaise with them directly.
