The top ten most expensive cities for business travel have been revealed and London has fallen out of the list. While the UK capital still features in the top ten for Europe, globally it has been usurped by other, more expensive, destinations.
ECA International, a company providing data, software and global mobility expertise to multinational companies say that the strength of the Euro and Swiss Franc and weakness of Sterling has caused a bit of a shakeup in the annual report.
Cities such as Paris and Monaco have overtaken London for the first time, while Scottish city Aberdeen has fallen from 13th spot to number 39.
New York retains the top spot and is officially the most expensive city for business travel, costing on average £611 per day. The cost includes hotel, meals, drinks, taxis, laundry and other regular expenses. The American city is followed by Geneva and Zurich respectively.
Employment Conditions Abroad have also detailed the top ten European cities, in order of expense. In this, Geneva takes top spot, followed by Zurich, Paris, Basel, Monaco, London, Lugano, Bern, Reykjavik and Copenhagen.
