The Women in Business NI, Business Woman of the Year 2019 Award was presented to MD and founder Edel Doherty, on Thursday 7th October 2019.
Edel started the company in 2010 and the business has gone from strength to strength, now with more than 25 employees, offices in Belfast and Dublin and a turnover of £16million with plans to grow to £50million in four years.
The company has continually outperformed the market by providing both cost effective travel solutions and premium travel experiences. Our dedicated teams work to provide the right solution at every instance.
Teamwork and going above and beyond in our service has helped us remain one step ahead of the competition. The business was most recently awarded with ‘Travel Agent of the Year’ at The Advantage Travel Partnership awards in London this September.
Speaking at the awards, Edel said;

Edel is a leading figure in Business Travel in Northern Ireland, an industry she has been passionate about for the last 30 years. Edel was a director of Selective Travel management for 17 years before she started Beyond Business Travel 9 years ago. The business, under Edel’s leadership, has grown year on year and will celebrate its 10 year anniversary in March 2020.
Edel is strong in sales, problem solving and helping people to work through challenges. She is also past chair of Women In Business, served twice on the NI Chamber of Commerce Council and more recently on the Board of the NOW Group which helps adults with learning difficulties.
Edel is passionate about technology and driving her business through data. This delivers transparency for clients and a constantly improving business traveller experience.
