Flown from George Best Belfast City Airport recently? If so, chances are your flight departed on time or at least within ten minutes of when it was scheduled.
Britain’s best and worst airports – in terms of punctuality – have been revealed this week and Belfast City has been named the UK’s most punctual airport. The airport finished in joint top spot with Leeds Bradford.
According to data released by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) the average delay faced by travellers through Belfast City is just ten minutes. Gatwick passengers face, on average, delays of 27 minutes for their flights.
Aer Lingus finished well also, being named the most punctual airline, with Flybe claiming the prize for best performing UK air carrier.
Katy Best, Commercial & Marketing Director at Belfast City Airport, said:
“We are dedicated to providing excellent customer service to the 2.7 million passengers who travel through our airport each year.
“We are delighted that the punctuality of two of our airlines has also been recognised in the findings, and will continue working with all of our partners to ensure a smooth journey for our passengers – from arriving at the airport, to relaxing in the departures lounge, to boarding the aircraft.”
It’s been a fantastic few years for George Best Belfast City Airport. In 2016 it was named the Most Convenient Airport in the UK and Ireland by The Telegraph. Earlier in 2017 the airport was named Business in the Community 2017 Responsible Company of the Year in Northern Ireland.
Growth continues in Belfast, with new routes from City Airport to Reykjavik, Iceland and Newcastle having launched in the last few months.
